4. Information for Prospective Managers
Being a manager is an excellent opportunity to learn valuable managerial skills. As well, a managerial reference from Cottage Maintenance is a valuable future asset. Being a manager for Cottage Maintenance is not for everyone. The days are long and are filled with responsibility. Not everyone is a leader. We are looking for the right people who have managerial experience or want to learn those skills. You must be friendly, reliable, committed, flexible, organized, and most of all - tolerant. Things do happen [i.e. paint spills], and when they do, you must be prepared to respond!
We also provide additional training for managers: how to talk to, and deal with clients, how to do estimates, how to order supplies, how to delegate responsibilities effectively, how to organize your time and the time of your employees effectively, and how to handle stress.
We will also provide as much additional help as you need to ensure that every job you do is done to Cottage Maintenance's high standards.
(a) Managerial Duties
Managers have several duties that separate themselves from other employees:
- Meet with clients and give estimates.
- Prepare weekly schedules for the employees who they manage.
- Delegation.
- Order and pick-up of supplies [can be delegated to employees if appropriate].
- Work directly with the company owners.
- Be actively involved in special and charity events.
- Assist employees in completing the jobs.
5. Other Opportunities - Working with Contractors, Construction Companies, and Public Relations and Marketing Experts
Cottage Maintenance offers many different opportunities for experience in working with construction companies and contractors. For those seeking public relations and marketing experience, our director of marketing always appreciates extra help. More information regarding all of these opportunities will be available after the Spring/Summer season has gotten under way.
